IRS Provides Quick Reference Guide for Small Businesses

By Marcia Richards Suelzer, MA, JD | June 29, 2012

Keeping up with the tax obligations that come along with owning a small business can be daunting. A new IRS brochure, Small Business Federal Tax Responsibilities, can help you find the information that you need, quickly and easily.

Although few people find it enjoyable, understanding and complying with tax requirements is a necessary aspect of doing business. Not only can it be costly if you fail to comply, you need information to make sure that you structure and run your business in the most tax-effective manner possible. Although the IRS website has a wealth of information, it can be difficult to quickly locate relevant information.

To help small business owners find the facts they need, the IRS has developed a brochure that not only lists the most common types of information, but provides quick tips to access it. For example, you can quickly find out about employer identification numbers at IRS.gov and searching "EIN".

In addition to IRS information, the brochure points you to other government websites with valuable information, such as the Small Business Administration, and highlights other IRS resources, such at the IRS You Tube channel.
