The use of lie detector tests by employers in New Jersey is subject to these state rules.

New Jersey's polygraph testing law covers employers other than those involved in manufacturing, distributing, dispensing or otherwise handling controlled substances.

A covered New Jersey employer may not influence, request or require that an employee or prospective employee take a lie detector test as a condition of employment or continued employment.
