Employers in Alabama are subject to these state rules that restrict firing employees under certain circumstances.

Alabama law makes it unlawful for an employer to fail to excuse an employee for serving on a jury or to fire an employee for:

  • filing a workers' compensation claim
  • filing written notice of a safety rule or child labor violation
  • having wages withheld for child support or criminal restitution
