Employers in Nevada are subject to these state rules that restrict firing employees under certain circumstances.

Nevada laws make it unlawful for an employer to:

  • interfere with employees' political activities
  • fire employees during a pending arbitration
  • fail to permit employees time off to vote
  • fire employees on the report of a "spotter" without a hearing
  • deny equal employment opportunity
  • violate protections for veterans or reservists
  • retaliate against an employee for filing a safety, wage, or employment practices complaint
  • require an employee to take a polygraph test
  • fire an employee for having wages withheld for child support or other garnishment
