Employers in Alabama must comply with these state rules relating to meals and break times.

Alabama does not have a general law governing meal and rest periods. However, there are specific provisions relating to child labor.

Minors ages 14 and 15 years of age cannot be employed for more than five straight hours without receiving at least a 30-minute break for a meal or rest period.

A meal or rest period of less than 30 minutes cannot be considered as an interruption of a continuous period of work.
