By Brooke Miller Hall   It’s National Small Business Week. To honor and empower small business owners, there are several events and activities in Washington D.C. happening throughout the week. (Learn more about the Small Business Administration’s free, live webcast of this year’s events.) This year’s National Small Business Week, May 21-26, corresponds with the 59th anniversary of the U.S. Small Business Administration agency, as well as the Presidential Proclamation of Small Business Week. In addition to various forums and sessions, the highlight of the week is when the National Small Business Person of the Year is chosen from the Small Business Person of the Year winners from 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam. Find out who was named the Small Business Person of the Year from your state. Even though you might not own the Business Person of the Year title, at bizfilings.com, we’d like to honor you for the important role you play. We’re highlighting National Small Business Week by featuring four different types of entrepreneurs. Though you might not know it yet, you may just fall into one of these categories. In addition to defining the terms and explaining what these small business owners do, we’ll tell the stories of some of their most successful members. We hope this exercise will inspire you and maybe even help you define or redefine yourself and your business. It’s also a good reminder of the powerful, important role you play in our society and economy.
