Colorado Laws Relating to Workplace Violence

A summary of Colorado laws relating to weapons and conduct that impact workplace violence.

It is unlawful to carry a concealed gun or knife without a permit. Unless given permission by a legal authority, it is also unlawful to carry a firearm or dangerous weapon in any building housing the state general assembly or into a legislative hearing or meeting.

However, it is lawful to carry a concealed weapon without a permit in one's own dwelling or place of business, or on property one owns or controls. One may also carry a concealed weapon without a permit in private transportation for protection of persons or property while traveling.

Concealed weapons may not be carried, even with a permit, on school, college or university grounds, unless given legal authority to do so.

While under the influence of intoxicating liquor or a controlled substance, it is unlawful to carry a concealed weapon, even with a permit.
