Illinois Wage and Hour Recordkeeping Requirements

Filed under Office & HR.

Employers in Illinois must conform with these state rules relating to wage and hour recordkeeping requirements.

In Illinois, employers with four or more employees or covered by a wage order must keep a record of the wages and hours of each employee for three years.

The following basic information must be included in employer records for each employee:

  • name, address and occupation;
  • the rate of pay, and the amount paid each pay period;
  • the hours worked each day in each workweek; and
  • other information that may be required by regulations.

Workers employed at a learner's rate must be designated as such on the employer's payroll, with the learner's occupation shown.
