Meal and Break Rules in Nevada

Employers in Nevada must comply with these state rules relating to meals and break times.

A Nevada employer may not employ an employee for a continuous period of eight hours without permitting the employee to have a meal period of at least 30 minutes.

A period of less than 30 minutes does not interrupt a continuous period of work for purposes of this requirement.

Rest periods need not be authorized if total daily work time is less than 3.5 hours.

Authorized rest periods are hours worked, for which there may be no deduction from wages.

The meal and break requirements do not apply when there is only one person employed at a particular place of employment, nor to employees covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
