Employers in North Dakota must comply with these state rules regarding the timing and frequency of wage payments.
Employees in North Dakota must be paid at least once each calendar month, or on regular, agreed upon paydays designated in advance by the employer.
Wages are due at each regular payday immediately following the work period during which wages were earned.
Employers may pay wages to their employees in lawful money, with checks from banks convenient to the place of employment or with direct deposit in the financial institution of the employee's choice. Employers are not precluded from requiring employees to directly deposit their wages into a financial institution. Credit unions are included as financial institutions and the use of a stored value card for the payment of wages is permitted.
