Paying Terminated Employees in Puerto Rico

Employers in Puerto Rico must comply with these state requirements when making the final wage payment to terminated employees.

In Puerto Rico, discharged or resigning employees must be paid no later than the next official payday.

Employees discharged without cause whose services were contracted for without definite term are entitled to one month's salary and an additional indemnity equivalent to one week for each year of service, computed on the highest salary earned during the preceding three years or the highest number of hours worked in any month.
