Employers in Kentucky are subject to these state rules that restrict firing employees under certain circumstances.

Kentucky laws make it unlawful for an employer to:

  • fail to allow employees time off to vote
  • fail to allow employees time off to serve on jury duty
  • fire employees for attending a required hearing or other official proceeding
  • deny equal employment opportunity
  • violate protections for veterans or reservists
  • retaliate against an employee for filing a safety complaint or a wage complaint
  • fire an employee for having wages garnished
