Employers in Louisiana are subject to these state rules that restrict firing employees under certain circumstances.

Louisiana laws make it unlawful for an employer to:

  • fire employees because of jury service
  • retaliate against an employee who reports environmental violations
  • fire employees who invoke the law
  • violate protections for veterans or reservists
  • fire or discriminate against employees who file workers' compensation claims or who have wages withheld for child support
  • deny equal employment opportunity
