In calculating the minimum wage in Kansas, employers may take into account tips and gratuities received by an employee in an amount not to exceed 40 percent of the minimum wage rate, if those tips have customarily been a part of the employee's wages and the employee actually receives and retains them.
The minimum wage for tipped employees in Kansas is $2.13 per hour. If the minimum wage for tipped employees plus the tips and gratuities actually received do not equal at least $7.25 per hour, the employer must make up the difference.
